As some of you know, I recently took some time off from work and took a
vacation, and I actually really went on vacation. No cell phone, no
computers, no Internet, and for many days, no actual
phone.
I went so far as to leave the country and visited several of the
Caribbean Islands (St. Lucia, Mayreau, Tabogo Cays, Bequia, Mustique
and St. Vincent).
I flew down to St. Lucia, and then visited the other islands via the SV
Polynesia, a 248-foot schooner built in 1938 (Mustique was actually
visited via a catamaran). The SV Polynesia's original
owners named it the Argus and it was part of the Portuguese Grand Banks
fleet. It was even featured in the May 1952 edition of National
Geographic magazine and in the late maritime writer, Allen
Villers' book, "The Quest for the Schooner Argus."
I (and some of the other people on the ship) took a couple of pictures
with my cameras while I was there. I've uploaded them to
http://poly.the42.net/ppx/v/pj
for your
viewing enjoyment.
If you go to the parent directory (
http://poly.the42.net/ppx/) of
that site, you can also see pictures taken with cameras of some of the
other passengers.
I (of course) still need to further organize the pictures (currently
they are just split up by date), remove "bad" pictures, etc. Also to
be done is to select a subset of pictures that are the "best" so that
people don't have to wade through all of the pictures.
Here are some samples of the many pictures available for your viewing
pleasure.
